WEEK 3 (18TH SEPTEMBER - 23RD SEPTEMBER)
HELLO! HELLO!
Welcome to my third week of practicum! Huh, almost a
month just in the blink of an eye. Many things happened in week 3. Very hectic
and busy week for teachers and pupils. Let’s start with 18th
September. On this day, we had a closing ceremony for Independence Month. All
of us teachers and pupils need to wear traditional clothes that weren’t our
culture. As for me, I wore Kurti, an Indian traditional clothing. It was my first
time wearing it and I think that I would wear Kurti again on any other day.
Mine was so pretty at an affordable price. I bought it online since the physical
store seems to be a lot more expensive and pricey. On that day, I saw a lot of
kids wearing many types of traditional clothes. When I was a kid, I never had a
chance to wear like this, so it was exciting to see those cute faces wearing
various types of traditional clothes. Some wore sarees from Indian cuisine,
cheongsam from Chinese, Iban, and even hanbok from Korea. It was exciting to
see kids nowadays wearing traditional clothes from different cultures.
On the 19th, 20th and 21st
September, we still had a sports day rehearsal as usual. This time around, I
wore proper attire to be on a field. It was a very hot day and I could feel
the burn and heat. I don’t know how the kids handled the weather. They are very
active and play happily despite sitting under the hot sun. Sometimes, I
felt sorry for the kids. There is not enough covered area with a roof for the kids
to sit. So, they need to sit in the middle of the field and under the hot sun.
Actually, they seemed to have a lot of fun. Anyway, this week was full of sports and heat. During this time, I could get to know my pupils better. I have
an issue where I can’t remember people’s names. So, sports day rehearsal’s week,
really helped me to remember my pupils’ names.
Next, on 22nd September, we had a Sports
Day for pupils from kindergarten, year 1, year 2, and year 3. It was raining
heavily and we couldn’t make it to the field. We need to conduct the Sports Day in the foyer. Despite having a lot of circumstances, the determination of these
kids is strong. They are still playing and competing happily. The parents also
came to show support to their children. As usual, I was at the medal table. Organizing
which prizes to which winners. All of my fellow practicum teachers were also
there helping out the teachers organizing the event. Despite the bad
weather, the event was done successfully.
Now, this is the big day. Sports Day for year 4, year
5, and year 6. On this day, Alhamdulillah it was sunny. The weather was great;
the children were great. I could see all the tired faces from running in the hot weather. Some even cried after losing. Some cheered happily after
winning. As a teacher from the Temenggung team, I also cheered for my kids. They all
did so great and awesome. We placed number 2 overall. All the hard work we
put on costumes paid off. It took us a week to finish the costumes. It was such
a memorable memory to be remembered. For a week, I worked overtime at school. Tired,
yet so fun.
The hectic week was done!
