WEEK 6 (9TH OCTOBER 2023 - 14TH OCTOBER 2023)
HELLO! HELLO!
Welcome to my week 6 of practicum at Sekolah
Kebangsaan Taman Maluri! Phew! Week 6 already? Time flies so fast. As for now,
I feel comfortable walking into classes and interacting with kids and the
teachers. It took me some time to feel this comfortable. So, this week, I think
it is more challenging than the other weeks, why?
First and foremost, on Monday 9th and 10th
October 2023, the place I lived in had no water supply. But, luckily I already
prepared 2 buckets of water for preparation. I got to school clean and
showered. Some people don’t get the notice and end up going to school without
taking a bath. On both of these days, I
entered my class like usual and there was no special occasion happening.
Next, on 11th October 2023, the water
supply is finally back. It was such a relief! Then, I entered 5 Sigma to start
the learning. I asked them to write an email to their friends from another
country. It was so difficult for them to brainstorm some ideas to create an
email. I need to guide them from the start. They started to lose their focus in
class. I need to remind them over and over to complete the essay. It was not a
good experience.
On 12th October 2023, supposedly I got to
enter 5 Sigma again but due to “Bahasa Melayu” Week, we did not have a class.
Most of the pupils were in the foyer for the event. Some kids from my class
also participated in the competition that was held by the school. There were
poetry recitations, public speaking and many more. It was fun watching them in
the foyer. We can see various types of pupils’ behaviours.
Next, on 13th October 2023, I participated
in a camp as one of the facilitators. It was so much fun! There are a lot of
fun activities that were prepared for the pupils. One of them is a traditional
game that was played by Malaysians when we were still a kid. It’s called “galah panjang”. I almost forgot
how to play the game. Kids nowadays are not familiar with this game, so we need
to explain to them how to play the game. They seemed to enjoy this game very
much. We, the facilitators also enjoyed playing this game among us. On that
day, all I do is laugh, laughing and laughing. There were a lot of funny
incidents. I am still laughing whenever I think about it.
Lastly, on 14th October 2023, all schools
in Malaysia celebrated Sports Day. This event started early at 8:00 AM until 12
in the noon. The school hired a few instructors from outside to conduct the
aerobics session. After the aerobics session, we continued with the closing
ceremony for “Kem Sahsiah Diri Anakku Sayang”. All the participants were happy
and I hope they learned a thing or few from this camp.
Phew! Week 6 is finally done.
