WEEK 7 (16TH OCTOBER 2023 - 20TH OCTOBER 2023)

 

HELLO! HELLO!

Believe it or not, I am halfway done with my practicum! Another 7 weeks to go. Let’s go! At this point, getting in class no longer gave me that nervous wreck in my tummy. English Week was held during this week. There are a few activities that happened throughout this week.

On 16th October 2023, I entered 3 Gamma at 11 in the morning. We did a reading comprehension activity. I could say that most of the pupils in the class can read. Only a few of them need some guidance to read. The activity on that day went very well. All the kids were enjoying the class so much. We also did a few other activities to keep the pupils entertained in the class. Up until this week, what I can say about teaching children under 12 was, that the kids tend to feel bored in the class if you do the same thing every day. They need something new every day. It was so hard to come out with great games or classroom activities ideas. I usually surf it online to collect some ideas from various websites.

Next, on 17th October, 2023, in the morning I entered 2 Alfa for Art Class. But, most of the kids weren’t in the classroom. They were practicing for English Week. But, I continued our lesson on that day. We made a trophy. It was much easier to handle a small amount of kids in class. After the class ended, I went straight to the foyer for the English Week competition. On that day, there was a Poem Recitation and My Idol competition. My Idol is basically the contestants need to talk about someone they adored so much in their life. One of the contestants talked about a football star. At the end of his speech, he pulled out a jersey of his idol. It was hilarious because everyone thought he would take off his shirt, but he was about to show the jersey underneath his shirt. I was one of the judges on that day. It was my first experience and I was kind of nervous too.

Then, on the 18th and 19th of October, the learning went as usual. But, on 20th October 2023, we, the practicum teachers received a certificate from the school for joining the activities that were conducted by the school. It was such an honour to receive an acknowledgement from the school. It makes us feel excited and happy to join more events and school activities.

  HELLO! HELLO! Welcome to my week 13! Which means I still have another week to survive from practicum! I am so excited to finish practicum but also sad at the same time because I need to leave these precious kids. I received their gifts with open heart. Next, on 28 th November 2023, Massimo came to our school. Everyone got 3 bread each including teachers and pupils. But, I got 7 breads on that day. Why? I received 4 breads from my pupils. I refused to take it from them but they insisted. I can’t do anything but to receive them because I was in the middle of class. WEEK 1 (4TH SEPTEMBER - 9TH SEPTEMBER)

 HELLO! HELLO! Assalamualaikum and hi everyone! My name is Balqis binti Zaiedi and this is my first entry of my practicum experience. After waiting so long for this day, the wait is finally has come to an end. I am supposed to start my practicum in August but due to some circumstances, my practicum has been delayed to 4 th September 2023. The first step is always the hardest. I was very nervous on the first day since I was not going to do my practicum with any of my friends or classmates. I walked into the office alone that morning feeling nervous and anxious. Since this is my first time going to a real school and teaching real kids, I have a lot of things going on in my mind. WEEK 3 (18TH SEPTEMBER - 23RD SEPTEMBER)

  HELLO! HELLO! Welcome to my third week of practicum! Huh, almost a month just in the blink of an eye. Many things happened in week 3. Very hectic and busy week for teachers and pupils. Let’s start with 18 th September. On this day, we had a closing ceremony for Independence Month. All of us teachers and pupils need to wear traditional clothes that weren’t our culture. As for me, I wore Kurti, an Indian traditional clothing. It was my first time wearing it and I think that I would wear Kurti again on any other day. Mine was so pretty at an affordable price. I bought it online since the physical store seems to be a lot more expensive and pricey. On that day, I saw a lot of kids wearing many types of traditional clothes. When I was a kid, I never had a chance to wear like this, so it was exciting to see those cute faces wearing various types of traditional clothes.
